Desire 2 Learn is on the way!

This week, National Louis has formalized an agreement with Desire 2 Learn (D2L) for contracting a new Learning Management System.  D2L provides a strong platform for the continued push to create a strong online presence for NLU.  D2L offers many exciting opportunities for course development, mobile learning, and community building in an intuitive and easy to use format.

The user-friendly interface of the D2L is a blend of the best practices in education combined with the relaxed feel of a social learning network.  Collaboration and communication in D2L is seamless, with many options including e-mail, notifications, instant messaging, blogs, social profiles,  and a multi-media capable discussion board. Students also have access to a “locker” where they can store their electronic files for sharing or to work on at a later time. The home page also offers an interactive calendar to help keep track of all those assignment due dates.

Faculty and staff will enjoy the easy course development options available in D2L. Expanding beyond simple text based assignments, D2L offers a robust multi-media tool built right into the platform. This tool can be used to create webcasts and presentations within the constructs of the LMS, providing a rich multi-media experience for students.

Thanks to the Senate Advisory Technical Committee, the LMS task force, and the NLU administration for supporting us during this exciting change! More information will be posted as it becomes available.
