Getting Ready for a Change!

As faculty you are the front line of support for your students as we transition to our new learning management environment, Desire2Learn. It’s been wonderful seeing so many of you in training sessions at every campus! We would like to let you know about additional D2L support opportunities available for students through NLU.

Under the leadership of Sarah Brick, Director of Student Experience, NLU is launching a comprehensive communication plan to inform students about our new system and available resources:
  • Targeted emails - Students are receiving email communication about the new system including an overview of key features, steps for transitioning any Blackboard content they wish to save, and a detailed explanation of support services
  • Call campaigns - New and continuing students are receiving personal calls regarding the new system and an opportunity to ask any questions they may have
  • Awareness marketing - Posters, flyers, screen savers, and digital displays are all being readied to announce the upcoming arrival of the new NLU Online Campus
  • Training - Support staff in a wide variety of areas including the NLU response center are receiving D2L training so they can better assist students

In addition, all faculty should be aware of the

At this very moment all current and prospective students can access:

  • A student orientation on how to succeed in an online learning environment
  • A detailed student tutorial on how to access and navigate the new D2L system
  • An entire demo course inside the D2L environment in which students can practice navigation and test communication and assignment tools
  • A comprehensive list of contact information for student support resources at NLU
Send a link to the NLU Online Campus Student Resources website to your students now so they can prepare for any online or blended courses they may be taking in the Winter term.

Also, remember that students, faculty, and staff can call the toll-free NLU Technical Support Hotline at 886-813-1177 (ex.4357 on campus) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for support using the new learning management system.
